Government subsidies

Victoria – VEU Program:

The Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program is a government initiative aimed at helping residents and businesses in Victoria reduce their energy consumption and lower energy bills. By providing financial incentives, the program encourages the adoption of energy-efficient products and services, such as LED lighting, efficient heating and cooling systems, and energy-saving appliances. Participants can benefit from reduced upfront costs for these upgrades, leading to long-term savings on energy bills and a reduced carbon footprint – some of the subsidies on cooling are exceeding $7,000 off the cost of installation!

QLD:

Queensland currently has no state specific subsidy schemes at the present (2024) however there are rumours of a second iteration of the cost of living rebate subsidising cooling systems, heat pump and solar batteries.

NSW ESS

The NSW Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) helps households and businesses in New South Wales reduce energy use and save on costs. It offers financial incentives for energy-efficient upgrades like LED lighting, efficient appliances (such as air-conditioning and heat pumps), and better insulation. By participating, customers can lower energy bills, reduce their carbon footprint, and contribute to a sustainable environment.

STC Rebate – Nationwide

The Small-Scale Technology Certificate (STC) rebate is a government incentive that helps reduce the upfront cost of installing renewable energy systems, such as solar panels, solar water heaters, and heat pumps. Each STC represents a megawatt-hour of renewable energy generated, and these certificates can be sold to reduce the installation costs. By participating in this rebate program, customers can save money, lower their energy bills, and contribute to a greener environment through the adoption of clean energy technologies.

LGC Rebate – Nationwide

The Large-Scale Generation Certificate (LGC) solar rebate is a government incentive designed to encourage the installation of large-scale solar energy systems. For every megawatt-hour of electricity generated by these systems, an LGC is created, which can then be sold or traded to reduce the overall cost of installation. This rebate helps lower the financial barriers to adopting solar energy, allowing businesses and organizations to save on energy costs, reduce their carbon footprint, and support the transition to renewable energy sources.
